World Cup Loss

when i say world cup i get a feeling of dejection because of the huge expectations i have set on the Indian team.As soon as i think of world cup a series of thoughts strikes to my mind.like..even after possessing vast experience why did big guns in our team didn't fire? Why did a great player like Greg didn't succeeded in pulling the team out of pothhole? Why did team India failed in all departments(Bowling,Batting,Fielding)?Inspite of players by whom we won world cup once in 1983 are still available, why our team management failed to avail their services?Inspite of providing extraordinary facilities followed by international standards to the team, why did they failed to execute and impress cricket fans?

"Money makes a person good and sometimes sucks out the good as well".Is this proverb applicable to our Indian team.My answer is YES.What is the need of a player to leave his practice sesions and spend time on endorsements.A young player enters into a team as a focussed ,determined and talented guy.Going forward under the guidance of world class coaches the player will pose a challenge to the opponents and he succeeds in doing .As time progress (already he becoomes a crorepathi by blessings of endorsements)he takes as granted that nothing harm is going to happen to his position in the team.By thinking so he fails to execute well in matches, thereby questioning the ability of the Team as a whole. Some players turn adament in the team whose opinions are considered too.But there is no guarantee that their ideas will work out.

Is this the cycle that repeating in our team.YES!! Every member in the team shouldn't forget that it is the nation ultimately that comes into picture when they are representing the team outside the country. It is not something for their personal acheivements. The match with bangaldesh was a terrible display of out team.Lack of spirit and agressiveness in the team was witnessed by everyperson worldwide who was sitting infront of the TV set.so was the result that even a fresh inexperinced team like B'desh could pose a convincing victory for an experinced Indian team.

The decision by captain Dravid after winning the toss was a disaster when he opted to field with the match versus srilanka.Eventhough Indian team has a good record in chasing, that was not a pitch to just give away the bat for the opponent.Even after several failures in the opening slot by Sehwag he was repeatedly given chances to open.Tendulkar and Ganguly should have sent in middle order pushing Dhoni to top order. He was a capable person to fight with aceman vaas and spinner Muthaiah apart from Sachin and Saurav. There were as many as six to seven indications from dressing room by senior players to ganguly to attack the bowlers and to hit hard thus to increase the run rate. This news was posted by BBCWorld in one documentary. But his reluctance to attack the bowlers by his famous classic offside strokes and frontfoots lead to pay heavy penalty to Indian team to depart out of world cup.May be he developed a grudge with BCCI and Greg and this was the time he was despearately waiting for :)

Inspite of knowing the schedule of the world cup two to three months earlier Indian team failed to analyse the pros and cons of the teams which they are going to face. There were absolutely no leftarm off spin bowlers present in the Indian Team to really freeze the batsmen to the crease, which was a major setback to the Bowling section.Lets wait and see whether the new policies and procedures set up by the BCCI will workout with all the interests of the players not getting hurted.Hope there will be a new young and talented team who can send goosebumps down the spine to the opponents. The new team sponsored by Zee should hopefully click thus succeeding in churning out a parallel team :)...

Hi Amar,
The points opined by you reflect the afficianados' anguish on the indian team debacle. Once the team is secure, then they'll lack the killer instict as they are nicely pampered. Though we upbraid our unhappiness, our team will be the same always. As long as we idolize the cricketers and behave as if cricket is the only sport, then they are bound to become grasping about green dollars, leaving fans to think cricket as just a nostalgia of 1983....!!!!
Good way to start the blog. Keep posting your points on the latest hot topics !!
